Below you can find a list of interesting streams, mainly online radios, that are residing on our office Raspberry PiRadio (if you want to make one Bob Rathbone wrote a comprehensive tutorial on how to do it). Some of these links may die, I will try to keep this updated as often as possible – please note, some of the streams are not 24/7.

    Started by Gilles Peterson, Worldwide FM is an award-winning community and platform where marginalised voices, alternative perspectives and shared progressive values are brought to the forefront through music and culture. Whether our programming comes from Palestine or New Orleans, we try where we can to give voice to progressive artists and cultural figures who fight inequality in all its forms. Going strong since 2016 and gaining popularity during the time of lockdowns in 2020 it had apparently faced issues with funding and has been made lower maintenance than before.

    Soho Radio is an independent online radio station that broadcasts over two channels, Soho and NYC + Culture. The studios are based in Soho, London, and on Lexington Avenue in New York It was founded in 2014, with the New York branch opening in November 2020.

    Cashmere Radio is a not-for-profit community experimental radio station which was originally based in Lichtenberg, Berlin for the first six years of its existence before recently moving to Wedding. The ambition of the station is to preserve and further radio and broadcasting practices by playing with the plasticity and malleability of the medium. We do this by both honouring and challenging its inherent qualities: it is both a physical station open to the public and an online radio; it has regular shows, yet opens itself up to extended and one-off events; it features extended generative music performances and installations at the same time as working within radio’s typical durations.

    8K.NZ is an independent internet radio station broadcasting a full-spectrum sound selection from post-earthquake Christchurch, New Zealand. Formed in July 2016 by a pack of battle-hardened radio veterans, musicians, DJs, and young upstarts, our non-commercial and democratically driven station features “music picked by people”, and not a tasteless algorithm.     Founded back in 1972 at the University of Washington, KEXP is one of the most recognized independent voices within the music industry.
